Blackjack, or Tarneeb, is a popular card game prevalent throughout the Arab world, particularly in the Levant. Also known as "Rule" in the Gulf states, Tarneeb's objective is to win consecutive rounds (Tarneeb groups). Four players participate, forming two teams of two. Teams compete until one reaches the winning score, determining the overall victor.
Played with a standard 52-card deck (excluding Jokers), gameplay proceeds clockwise, beginning with the player to the dealer's left. Cards are dealt clockwise, beginning from the dealer's right. Bidding starts at 7, ascending to 13 ("Cabot/Livers"). The highest bidder chooses the Tarneeb suit.
If a player fails to meet their bid, the difference is deducted from their team's score and added to the opposing team's score. For instance, bidding 10 and collecting only 9 results in a deduction of 1 (10-9) from the bidding team and an addition of 1 to the opposing team.
The game concludes when one team achieves either 61 or 31 points, depending on pre-game agreement.
Card ranking follows this order: A (Ace), K (King), Q (Queen), J (Jack), followed by numbered cards 10 to 2.
