Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku and crave some friendly competition? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before starting, adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone begins with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, configurable in the options:

• Show Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points. Duplicate numbers are disallowed.
• Hide Correct Numbers: Players can't see each other's correct numbers, allowing for multiple players to earn points for the same correct digit.

Time-Outs:

Incorrect numbers result in a time-out, preventing the player from making further moves while others continue. The time-out duration is customizable (default: 30 seconds).

Points:

Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct digit. Incorrect numbers deduct points (half the value of a correct placement).

Winning:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win with fewer mistakes.

Team Play vs. Individual Play:

Team play allows two teams to compete. When joining, select your team (1 or 2). A minimum of two players per team is required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle provides tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Clicking a number already present removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of any square.
