About Detention

Detention is a unique atmospheric horror game deeply rooted in Taiwanese and East Asian culture, drawing heavily on Taoist and Buddhist references. Set in 1960s Taiwan during martial law, the game offers players a chilling experience as they navigate a haunted school filled with hostile supernatural events. Through a simple point-and-click interface, players control characters who explore the school to uncover the haunting stories behind it.

The game integrates religious elements from Taiwanese and Chinese culture and mythology, providing players with a distinctive visual and gaming experience. Detention is an award-winning title, having won the IndieCade 2017 award, and was developed by Red Candle Games.
