Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. Using a standard 52-card deck, play proceeds counter-clockwise. The goal for each player is to accurately estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team can win in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw down papers of the same type. The first player to successfully match the paper type wins the "Bamh." If a player doesn't have a matching paper, they forfeit the right to declare "Tarneeb." "Tarneeb" papers are superior to other paper types; the player throwing the strongest "Tarneeb" paper wins, unless a stronger "Tarneeb" is played.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are tallied. A bidding team only scores if they achieve their estimated number of "Allmat" or more. If successful, they add the number of "Allmat" won to their score; the opposing team gets nothing. If they fail, the "Allmat" they won are deducted from their score and added to the opposing team's score.
If either team wins 13 tricks without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to their score. If a team bids for and wins 13 tricks, they gain 26 points. However, if a team bids for 13 tricks and fails, 16 points are deducted from their score.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points; that team is declared the winner.
