Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Manly Drama and Hilarious Mayhem

RGG Studio promises a unique blend of serious storytelling and over-the-top comedy in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment features a "more serious" Goro Majima, according to director Masayoshi Yokoyama, particularly at the story's outset.

However, don't expect a complete departure from the series' signature humor. Producer Ryosuke Horii clarifies that while a "manly drama" forms the core narrative, showcasing Majima's pursuit of goals and the bonds he forges, the game will still include its share of comedic detours. Horii emphasizes the unique aspects of Majima that distinguish him from the series' long-time protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, making him the ideal lead for this heightened reality adventure. The team aimed for a balance between pirate themes, Majima's personality, and the overall Like a Dragon feel, a challenging but rewarding endeavor.

The developers strived to create a compelling narrative without sacrificing the series' signature flair, resulting in a gameplay experience described as "wilder" yet grounded in a serious, well-developed drama.

Majima's Maji Festival: A Japanese Celebration

To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival, a special event touring six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, featuring the iconic "Mad Dog of Shimano" as the protagonist, promises an exciting adventure filled with action-packed combat, thrilling naval battles, memorable characters, and a captivating story.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches on February 21st for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
