Elden Ring Update: Nightreign to Omit Swamps
Elden Ring Nightreign: No Poisonous Swamps, Two-Player Mode Under Consideration
From Software's upcoming cooperative title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will notably lack the poisonous swamps characteristic of many of the studio's previous games. This revelation comes directly from the project's product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, in recent press interviews.
While a swamp-like area was featured in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the non-participation of Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president, who is known for his fondness of incorporating such environments into games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series.

Interestingly, the possibility of a two-player mode remains open. Currently, only one-player and three-player modes have been confirmed, with initial exclusion of a two-player option cited as a balancing challenge. From Software is actively evaluating the feasibility of adding a two-player mode, but a final decision is pending.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
