Genki at CES 2025: A Closer Look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup
Genki, renowned for its gaming accessories, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing key design features and confirming earlier speculation. The model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, accurately reflects the console's dimensions, showcasing a larger size compared to its predecessor, approaching the dimensions of the Valve Steam Deck.
Key features observed on the mockup include seemingly magnetic Joy-Cons, a second USB-C port, and an intriguing new "C" button. Genki CEO Eddie Tsai, in a subsequent interview with The Verge, confirmed the magnetic Joy-Con design, explaining a mechanism utilizing pins to release the controllers from the console. Despite the magnetic attachment, Tsai assures users of a secure grip during gameplay.

Genki further revealed that the Joy-Con's mounting channels incorporate optical sensors, hinting at potential functionality as mouse-like input devices through a yet-to-be-released accessory. Leaked images appear to corroborate the presence of these sensors.
