Next Pokemon Presents Event May Be Disappointing for Switch 2

Don't expect any Switch 2 Pokemon game announcements at the upcoming Pokemon Presents on February 27th. While leaks suggest an imminent Switch 2 reveal, Pokemon titles will reportedly remain exclusive to the original Switch for now. The February 27th presentation will likely focus on Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Nintendo's next-gen console, the Switch 2 (unofficially named), is confirmed but details remain scarce beyond backward compatibility and this fiscal year's planned reveal. Leaks depict a more powerful, larger iteration of the original Switch.
While future Pokemon games are destined for the Switch 2, the February 27th Pokemon Presents will seemingly concentrate on titles developed for the original Switch, leveraging its backward compatibility on the new hardware. Insider Jeff Grubb supports this claim.
No Switch 2 Pokemon News Expected at Pokemon Presents
The event will undoubtedly showcase updates for ongoing Pokemon titles like Pokemon GO and Pokemon Trading Card Game Live. Pokemon Legends: Z-A, slated for release on the original Switch this year, is also anticipated to feature prominently. Currently, only a teaser trailer showcasing Lumiose City, returning Pokemon, and Mega Evolutions has been released. However, rumors suggest another main series Pokemon game is in the works for this year.
Speculation points towards potential Pokemon Black and White remakes or a new Let's Go installment, all reportedly destined for the original Switch, not the Switch 2. If these leaks hold true, the first Switch 2-exclusive main series Pokemon games would likely be Generation 10.
The Pokemon franchise has a history of prioritizing consoles with larger install bases. Recall Pokemon Black 2 and White 2's original DS release, bypassing the 3DS. This pattern may repeat. However, until officially confirmed, tune into the February 27th Pokemon Presents for definitive news.
