Marvel Rivals Reverses Ban on Falsely Accused Players
NetEase's Marvel Rivals mistakenly bans legitimate players. The developer, NetEase, issued a public apology for wrongly banning numerous players who weren't cheating. The affected players primarily used non-Windows systems, including macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck, and were flagged due to compatibility layer software. These bans have since been lifted.
The unintentional mass-banning occurred on January 3rd. NetEase's community manager acknowledged the error on the official Discord server, explaining that compatibility software, such as Proton on SteamOS, triggered the anti-cheat system. Players who experienced wrongful bans were encouraged to appeal through in-game support or Discord.
Separately, players are calling for the implementation of in-game character bans across all ranks. Currently, this feature is only available at Diamond rank and above, leading to frustration among lower-ranked players who feel disadvantaged by the lack of strategic options. Many players believe that extending this mechanic to all ranks would improve gameplay balance and provide a more enjoyable experience for all skill levels. NetEase has yet to respond to this player feedback.
